Transform Nepal has been responding to disasters in Nepal since 2019. Our work has covered both flood emergencies in the Terai and cold wave emergencies in Madhesh Province. In every response we have distributed through verified household lists, agreed with local government, and monitored afterwards.
- 2019 to 2020, Madhesh Province floods. We reached 2,700 families across Sarlahi, Mahottari and Dhanusha with food and non food items.
- 2021 to 2022, cold wave in Sarlahi and Dhanusha. We reached 1,200 families with food, hygiene supplies, education materials and protective clothing. Local health posts were also supported.
- 2026, Nuwakot and Rasuwa floods. We have been responding in the Trishuli Bazaar area since the first day. 200 families are currently being supported with food and non food items at the Trishuli shelter.
- Trained volunteer teams in place. We maintain volunteer teams in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading. This allows us to begin distribution without a set up period.
- Systems that donors can audit. Procurement is competitive on no fewer than three quotations. Distribution is recorded on numbered lists signed against identification. Post distribution monitoring covers a sample of families.
- Established coordination. Every response is agreed with the ward office and the District Disaster Management Committee, and lists are cleared with other agencies to avoid duplication.
